For quite some time, recent versions of udev complained about the
old udev rule, saying that SYSFS is deprecated. Since kernel 3.x,
SYSFS stopped working at all with the error message:
"unknown key 'SYSFS{idVendor}' in /etc/udev/rules.d/51-garmin.rules:4"
in /var/log/daemon.log. This new Garmin rule works for me (sorry,
my mail program insists in breaking the line):
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="091e", ATTR{idProduct}=="0003",
MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev"
After editing the line, don't forget to force udev to load it:
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
If your version of Linux insists in loading the garmin_gps kernel
module, you need to create a blacklist file in /etc/modprobe.d, e.g.
garmin-blacklist.conf with the line "blacklist garmin_gps" (less the
quotes). But this is an old problem, if your setup worked before,
you probably already have this.
