I'm a new user & I'm trying to get Qlandkarte working under linux ubuntu
10.04. I have QLandkarte GT 1.4.0. I'm in the US and my use will be
for backcountry travel so I need detailed topographic maps. I found
some WMS sources but can not figure out how to load them. I found the
instructions that said to right click on a entry in the streaming map
tab, and I was able to use the google map examples but they are not
adequate. It looks like USGS maps may be available, but I can not
figure out how to use them.

For examples I found this, but I don't get a map.
http://basemap.nationalmap.gov/ArcGIS/services/TNM_Vector_Small/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS

Here are some web pages that seem to be the right direction.
http://www.usgs.gov/science/science.php?term=1794
http://viewer.nationalmap.gov/example/services.html

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
