Evening all,

A question to you from a not very experienced QLGT user!

I have scanned 3 pieces of 2 Japanese 1:50000 maps & put them together
as one sheet in GIMP. This I have saved as a .tiff file.

I have opened this file in QLGT & am trying to "do" the geo ref, but
cannot - every time I try it I get the same set of messages.... Sadly,
I don't appear to have anything other than the QLGT frame with error
explanations.

(Running Fedora 16 with KDE, QLGT 1.5.1, QT Library 4.8.2, GDAL Library
GDAL 1.7.3, Proj4 Library 470)

So, here is what I have done so far:

Step 1, gave the name of my map file ending in .tif
accepted the output file of same name, ending _ref.tif
         set projection as +proj=utm +zone=52
left mode as linear (3 ref pts)
clicked on overviews 2x (--no idea what difference it makes
whether I click 2,4, 8, 16 or 32x)

Step 2,
Ref projection is given as:
+proj=longlat +a=6378137.0000 +b=6356752.3142 +towgs84=0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
+units=m +no_defs

set following points:
Aso eki 694470 3646273 1926 1744
Miyaji eki 697997 3646304 2757 1753
Aso san ropeway 694079 3639881 1806 3237
Nakamatsu eki 692230 3634019 1344 4617

Click on <Start Process>

Step 3 Process gives following:

/usr/bin/gdal_translate -a_srs +proj=utm +zone=52 -gcp 1926 1744
694470.000000 3646273.000000 -gcp 2757 1753 697997.000000 3646304.000000
