Hi, The download section of http://www.qlandkarte.org/ points to a PPA for ubuntu versions, also noting that Debian tends to be badly out of date. The PPA has been defunct for nearly a year (on v.1.4.0) and Debian experimental now is tracking current versions quite closely. See: http://packages.debian.org/experimental/qlandkartegt .
The debian builds work for me on latest Ubuntu, though I cannot claim robust testing.
