Good news is that I have succeeded in compiling and running the svn version of qlandkartegt and garmindev.
Peculiar news is that I now also can download track data with the debian version mentioned below. It appears that on the Forerunner I first must assign a name to the data before it can be downloaded ... My apologies for the noise.
