@ all - Important info seems to be that you do not need Garmin maps, but maps for the Garmin devices. Free OSM maps from http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Computerteddy#Verwendung_in_QLandkarteGT_unter_Linux.2C_Windows_oder_Mac_OS_X (Sorry, page mainly German) also work with me.
