Hi,
I used qlandkartegt without problems on kubuntu 12.04 where I Iinstalled
it from the standard distribution archives. I generated tracks from
overlays with height data (may be generated from local DEM data, I don't
remember).
On kubuntu 14.04 the distributed binary has some lacks in the menues but
nevertheless I could create overlays and make tracks of it.
But the the function to generate height date via geonames.org does not work.
I downloaded the current qlandkarte for windows and installed it on
Windows 7 and never had a problem to generate height data from that server.
Because qlandkarte distributed with kubuntu 14.04 seemed not to be
optimally suited I downloaded the current qlandkarte sources from
/svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/qlandkartegt/code/QLandkarteGT/trunk qlandkartegt
/and translated it.
The resulted binary hasn't the above mentioned lacks in the (e.g.
overlay) menue but the same behavior when generating height data, i.e.
no height data were generated.
So I think the problem has nothing to do with the geonames server nor
with the track length. Its just a problem of the linux version.
Has anybody an idea ?
