2) 1.7.7 doesn't pick up preferences from earlier versions, because the 
name of the plist file has changed from "org.qlandkarte.QLandkarteGT.plist" to
"com.org-qlandkarte.QLandkarte GT.plist". This came with Qt5 support 
added in r3933.

Why was applicationName and organizationDomain changed? Is this really 
needed for Qt5?

For the MacPorts port I'll add the following patch (depends on qt4-mac 
anyway):
