Hi,

here we go! Database support. It's still a bit rudimentary in the sense that
you can't copy/move/clone items
and folders within the database as used to with QLandkarte. But the basic
concept is up and functional. The
rest will follow.

The look and feel is quite similar to QLandkarte, however the concept is a bit
different. First you can have
several databases, now. This is quite practical if you have folders with a lot
of items, that slow down
database access. Simply keep them in their own database.

The second big difference is how to add items to the database:

1) You add a folder in the database, first.
2) Load the folder into the workspace by clicking it's check button (group
folders do not have check buttons)
3) Next load you GIS data and copy it into the database folder on the workspace
by drag-n-drop.
4) Save the database folder. This will update the folder in the database.

As promised I programmed a tool to convert the QLandkarte GT database into a
QMapShack database. You
find it in the "Tool" menu. It's pretty straight forward to use. I tried to
convert as much as possible. But
some stuff had to be dropped as QMapShack does not support it any more.
Hopefully it's just a minor loss
for you.

As this is the first official release with database support I ask you to delete
all previous database files
created by QMapShack in the ~/.config/QLandkarte folder. Also keep in mind that
this is new code. I am
testing a lot but it might contain bugs still. Make a backup copy of your
QLandkarte GT database. Check if
the converted data is complete.

Have fun with the new release!

Oliver
