Hi Moritz

it's hard to convert a track into a route as there is no rule how to do
it, nor any common format that guarantees that the route will be the
same as the track. In fact the GPX specification is as lousy as it can
be, defining just the bare minimum.

That is why Garmin added a whole heap of GPX extensions within the route
tag. With these tags it is possible to force the newer devices to do
exactly the same routing as derived on the PC. If that information is
missing the device will calculate a route based on the waypoints in the
route definition and it's own internal map. And as an evil behaving
industrial player they choose to obscure their control data by using
hashes instead of clear text information. In other words they can do it
with Basecamp. We can't.

Concerning heart rate and other stuff: I have no device capable to
create such data. Nor do I really know why I want to know that stuff or
how to present that data nicely. In QLandkarte GT some one (Marc?) added
some support for Garmin's *tcx format. It was just an idea, probably was
never used and badly done.

--> If you want it, you have to implement it.

Cheers

Oliver
