follwing are the details
say i have installed qmail at 2 different geographic
location (say location a and location b)each of this
location has 2 mechines running follwing qmail daemons
qmail-pop3d
qmail-smtpd
qmail-qmqpd
my mailstore is on the nfs, so 2 qmail nodes running
at location "a" , shares a common mailstore located on
NFS server at location "a" and other 2 qmail nodes
running at location "b",shares a common mailstore
located on NFS server at location "b"
now users belonging to location "a" have their
their entry with
mailhost : location-a.domain.com
where location-a.domain.com is the FQDN defined in my
dns for the 2(two) ipaddresses (in DNS round robin)of
the qmail-node at the location-a
similarly users belonging to location "b" have their
ldap enrty with
mailhost : location-b.domain.com
where location-a.domain.com is the FQDN defined in my
dns for the 2(two) ipaddresses(in DNS round robin) of
the qmail-node at the location-a
now when i try to retrive pop-3 mails by connecting
to location-b.domain.com for a users whose mailhost
entry is
mailhost:location-a.domain.com
qmail gives "mailhost unreachable" error
after i send "user" and "pass" command at the pop-3
prompt,
i have been testing this for last 1 month and i am
very sure that its not a configuration problem,
because
when i remove the entry for second ipaddress (which
was previously in round robin) from DNS for FQDN
"location-a.domain.com and location-b.domain.com"
the redirection feature of qmail-pop3d starts working
without any problem.
so i think qmail-pop3d redirection does not work if
the fqdn defined in the users mailhost entry is
defined has multiple ipaddress (a dns round robin
entry) in DNS.
qmail-ldap-patch version is 2000601 , i have tested
this on RH 6.1,6.2,7.0 and on AIX 4.3.
