I've asked this before but got no response, so I'll try again :)
How about allowing wildcards in control/locals ? It's a bit idiotic to
have wildcard in rcpthosts and not in locals, especially when hundreds
of subdomains of a parent are to be accepted, as well as all new ones
(which is common for ISP's).
I found some code for it at

which can easily be put in a #ifdef clause.
Even if it is not in the upcomming patch, has anybody used this before?
