What about netinfo

How hard would it be to patch qmail such that it looks up info
from netinfo rather than ldap, creating home directories if
necessary?

The reason I ask is: the new Mac OS X server,
which will probably be used in many educational environments,
uses netinfo.  It can use LDAP, but currently only as a client,
not as a server.  Apple rolled their own MTA, but it doesn't
come with secure POP or webmail out of the box.
