Courier woes

I have been having a 3 week nightmare with qmail Ldap and courier. It doesn’t matter which way I install it I cannot get imap to authenticate to ldap. I am using RedHat  7.3, qmail 1.03 , courier 1.5.3 , setup as per the life with qmail-ldap.     Any help with this would be greatly received!!   Many thanks   Simon
