of course you need a imap daemon.. we were talking about Courier, right. But
you can use others as well..

Auth_ldap is just the authentication mechanism for qmail-ldap (I'll surely
use it) but it required some IMAP such as Courier right?

Hi,

you can use LDAP auth module from CourierIMAP, but it is recommended to use
the auth_imap module which can be found in /qmail/bin directory... adapt you
rc script for IMAP and it will work...

Try setting 
  CPPFLAGS
  LDFLAGS
per this documentation http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/FAQ.html#libs
