The odd thing is that the actual MESSAGE is getting a correct ID and is being
delivered fine. The only problem is that the ID in the log is not the same as
the ID for the message. It is only one of 2 possible vales (x or x+1) and has
nothing to do with the messages in the /var/qmail/queue directory.

This was not happening always; I think it only started when I stared using
ALTQUEUE. Is the job of assigning IDs up to qmail-queue, and if so, how does
that get communicated to qmail-send? That is the link I think is not working.

There are no indications of any fs issues on the machine.
