If I understand correctly how qmail-ldap clustering works (correct me if
I'm wrong, I've never used it), it doesn't store a copy of every mail on
every server of the cluster. What it does is spreading the users across
the cluster and proxying the connections from the incoming server to the
correct one. 

In this scenario, if one server goes down the cluster keeps working, but
the mailboxes stored on the fallen server are no longer accessible.
