Just a tip: try my patch 
( http://www.sztaki.hu/~bajnokk/qmail-ldap-virtual.html )
It adds IP-based and username-based virtual domain support (you can place 
different domains to different LDAP subtrees). 

Another approach may be to use [EMAIL PROTECTED] form in the uid attribute. Or you 
can change LDAP_UID to 'mail'. Plenty of choices...:)

And don't forget to read the documentation (QLDAPINSTALL, etc.)! I think 
lifewithqmail.org is a bit outdated...
