Our way of doing it is the following: do not delete mail accounts from www interface. Only mark them as deleted (there is an attribute in the schema for that). Every hour or several minutes a cron script runs and does a search in ldap directory for accounts marked as deleted.
What objectclass does the 'deleted' attributes pertains to? Did you have to modify some schema file?
