Thanks for quick response, but I think you probably misunderstood my question. I'm wondering how to check the version of qmail-ldap that is currently running. I need to incorporate version check into a script that will determine what to do based on the version. Certainly looking it up in QLDAPNEWS will work, but there are no guarantees that the file itself is current (for whatever reason). So, it would be great if I could retrieve that information by running say qmail-showctl that would tell me which version of the binaries is currently installed or accessible. You know what I mean?
I'm sorry but this is currently the only way to guess the release date. Btw. QLDAPNEWS is always installed make setup check and so is as accurate as any other version string but it is not easy parseable.
Gotcha.
There is no version added somewhere because I'm lazy. I would forget to increase the version number and that's probably worse.
Oh, we definitely don't want that to happen :)
I'll just do parsing of QLDAPNEWS then. I was only concerned that things may go haywire in case something happens with that file. Hopefully nothing would :)
Thanks!
