I don't think openldap enforces uniqueness for IA5strings or whatever the 
schema is. Only for dn's. I think the application that puts stuff in the 
ldap tree must ensure uniqueness of attributes.

Exception, as far as I know is uniqueMember and that's some special stuff 
in openldap or in the LDAPv3 definition.
