Bala,
Depends on your imap server configuration. I know that
courier-imap can do that.

                    I saw the courier-imap docs, it mentioned that 
LDAP_AUXOPTIONS setting in the
          authldaprc configuration file, I believe it is sqwebmail auth 
daemon config file, is it mean that
it will work only with sqwebmail, if you have further info let me know.
