Hi!
I have an unusual problem here. I haven't seen this problem before that would involve server and not the client.
Here is a problem. There is a server out there that is running qmail-ldap-1.03. Let's call the company where it's running, "Company A". I don't know which version exactly they're running, but I imagine it's relatively up-to-date, because Company A is a pretty big ISP. I'm also running qmail-ldap. There is a person that sent us an email with 5MB file attachment through Company A's qmail-ldap server. qmail-ldap at Company A keeps resending this message because my qmail-ldap server reports "read error or connection closed" every time this message with 5MB attachment is being submitted. The message actually makes it to recipient's mailboxes (there are three recipients), but the sending server apparently is unaware of this, so it tries to send it again and again.
I have seen this type of error before with email clients that improperly terminate connection or that terminate the exchange with single linefeed without carriage return. Normally using fixcrio should help. But in this case it's a qmail-ldap server, so it's very strange that this happens (and I'm not sure if the problem is with missing carriage return). All I know is that tcpserver returns error code 256, so that means that qmail-smtpd must have exited with code 1.
So, is this a bug or I'm missing something?
Here is what I see in qmail-smtpd log. "MYQMAIL" and "MYIP" belong to my server. "COMPANY-A-IP" and "COMPANYA" are the server of that big ISP.
