I put that note there because I, personally, saw Andre O with different
eyes after that very moment when I discovered he was the author of "The Big
Qmail Picture". I have "The Big Qmail Picture" stuck in a wall right behind
be for more than 4 years, and I have to check things on it almost every
week. This document is so useful! Yesterday I printed another copy to have
it upon my table.
When I met qmail-ldap for the first time, this was last year, when I saw
"The Big Qmail-LDAP Picture" I thought to myself - "Hmm... they are smart,
they copied The Big Qmail Picture diagram style to explain qmail-ldap...".
And I always thought like that until yesterday, when I discovered that
Andre was the author of both documents.
I didn't realized that, but Andre was always my teacher in Qmail! This has
a big value for me. And I'm sure that it's important for a lot of people
too.
And I'm also sure it won't cause any harm if people start being aware Andre
is the author of both documents. Will it cause any harm?
Besides that, I think Andre could use the popularity of that document
strategically to attract more people to qmail-ldap project. Everybody who
works with Qmail goes to www.nrg4u.com to pick that document and don't even
notice the existence of qmail-ldap. At least this was what happened to me.
I heard about qmail-ldap for the first time in 2004, on vchkpw (vpopmail)
mailing list, in a thread where I was asking about techniques for splitting
a domain into 'n' mailservers. If wasn't that guy who suggested me
qmail-ldap, I wouldn't know its existence.
Concluding, Andre taught Qmail to everybody through his famous diagram, and
this knowledgeable guy is leading qmail-ldap project - this is what is
important people to know. And I'd like to know that since the first time I
met qmail-ldap.
Regards,
bruno.
