I just tried it with success. In compiled both Qmail 1.03 with the latest Qmail LDAP patch, and stock Netqmail 1.05. I installed Netqmail 1.05 and copied over qmail-smtpd and qmail-verify from the Qmail 1.03 compile. My control/locals contains the domains my system recievess mail for and control/smtproutes has the relevant smtproutes. The RCPTCHECK variable is also being set in the supervise/qmail-smtpd script. I tested with a valid and invalid recipient email adress and it worked as expected.

In the intrest of keeping the the list archives useful I am replying to my own message on the list in order to make a correction about what I stated above.

Putting the domains in control/locals is incorrect. I removed all items from locals and now it contains no entires, which is fine with me as I don't want any local mail delivery as this is a for a smarthost. Instead I have the domains my smarthost accepts mail for listed in control/rcpthosts and routes to the corospoding internal mailservers in control/smtproutes . I believe this configuration is fine, but if anyone sees any glaring issues i hope they will point them out.

Thanks to Caudio for steering me in the right direction, and to Russ for pointing out the RCPTCHECK environment variable.

Johnny.
