Hi,

we use qmail-ldap toghether with qmail-scanner, spamassassin and clamav in produzion for about 1000 users and are very happy with it except for one little problem:

When a client sends an email from home (with SMTP-AUTH) the mail is passed through qmail-scanner (correct) _and_ through SpamAssassin, which causes troubles since most home connections are on lame ISPs with dynamic addressess listed in all the RBLs of this world: as a consequence our own outgoing emails result marked as Spam by our own SpamAssassin.

In my opinion an authenticated SMTP client is to be considered at full effect an "internal client" (i.e. one that after authentication HAS RELAYCLIENT set) and qmail-scanner does not pass the messages received in a RELAYCLIENT environment through SpamAssassin (while it passes them through the antivirus scanners in any case).

What the attached four-lines patch does is exactly this: if a client is authenticated with SNTP-AUTH it invokes qmail-queue (or whatever replaced it) with RELAYCLIENT set (and also takes care of the RSET event properly).

I think that this can be an useful addition to be integrated in qmail-ldap, please consider the four magic lines public domain.

My best regards,

A.
