Just an afterthought here. IIRC, SquirrelMail does not do the actual auth
request against LDAP, but Courier-IMAP does. So basically, again, IIRC,
SquirrelMail sends the auth request to Courier-IMAP which then sends the
appropriate information to OpenLDAP which then sends the results of the
auth request back to Courier-IMAP which then sends those results off to
SquirrelMail.
As a note to everyone -- please correct me if I am the least little bit wrong
on the above statement :)
