Are you using qmail-ldap patch? Or are you using qmail with something like vpopmail querying LDAP? > Recently I had a query of combining two tree into one, my > questions are as follows. > * Can multiple ldap trees can be combined. Yes, in qmail-ldap you can point to a root node and it will walk the entire tree looking for pre-defined objects. But you will probably need to use overlays to ensure the unique of some attributes. > * If possible, then how It depends a lot on what are you using and what exactly "combining two trees into one" means to you. > * If possible, will the authentication process anyways degrade > the performance as compared to single tree and multiple trees. If you use separate qmail-ldap for separate trees, it tends to be faster *if* you have really large trees, depending on the size of your tree it doesn't make any difference. > * How do I do the combination as the servers are live. I'm not quite sure I understand that, but you can simply inject the object from one tree into the other using something like ldapadd. Or create a third tree, and add the new combined elements from both old trees to the new one.
