hello everyone
i'm having some problems getting qmail-scanner 1.10 and spamassassin 2.11
to work correctly. i've searched through the archives of both this list
and the spamassassin list, and while i did find a few leads, i'm still
stumped.
first off, my config:
redhat 7.2 (2.4.7-10 kernel)
qmail-1.0.3 (with STARTTLS and qmailqueue patches)
qmail-scanner 1.10 (using qmail-scanner-queue wrapper)
spamassassin 2.11 (spamc/spamd install)
my problems started with trying to run qmail-scanner's configure.
although i have a working spamc/spamd install, configure kept failing the
spamc check. i ran the same check in the configure script myself, and
spamc worked fine (as expected), so i commented out the "SPAMASSASSIN=''"
lines to get it to include the spamassassin subroutine.
once installed, everything seems to work correctly, except that
spamassassin, as executed within qmail-scanner, does not flag any spam
that comes through, but rather just passes it on:

however, running the same content through spamc from the command line
flags the spam as expected and sets "X-Spam-Flag: YES" in the output.
in the process of debugging, i commented out the "system("$rm_binary
-rf..." line in the cleanup subroutine and the "rename" line in the
spamassassin subroutine so that i could examine the spamassassin
subroutine's output.
it appears that processing it through spamc -f isn't doing anything. the
file outputted to /var/spool/qmail/qmailscan/working/tmp/*.spamc contains
the original message as passed into qmail-scanner-queue.pl without any of
the modifications that i would expect spamc to make to the message.
does anyone have an idea as to what's going wrong here? i have a suspicion
that using the wrapper might have something to do with it, but i'm not
sure. here are my permissions for qmail-scanner-queue and
qmail-scanner-queue.pl:
