Can you run 'uvscan --version' from  the command line? If you can't then maybe 
your dat files are corrupt.
 
Try raising your softlimit in your smtpd tcpserver startup script.  (the DAT 
files from mcafee have grown over 100k in the last two months, means that they 
will need more ram to run)
