I am having problems with qmail-scanner on a new server. I am trying to
use a proven setup that has worked fine on other systems (single proc),
but does not work on the new (dual proc) server.
I am running RedHat 7.3 with the 2.4.18-3smp kernel, ClamAV version 0.53
and qmail-scanner-1.15.
The old system that works fine is a single processor with identical
software, and I have a new dual processor system that I can not get
working.
If I run a clamscan at the command prompt, it works:
[root@ep1smtp1 clamav]# /usr/local/bin/clamscan -r /home/clamav/
Autodetected 2 CPUs. Starting 2 threads.
/home/clamav//.emacs: OK
/home/clamav//.bashrc: OK
/home/clamav//.bash_profile: OK
/home/clamav//.bash_logout: OK

If I run the qmail-scanner test_installation.sh script, I get the 4
messages correctly.
If I eliminate 'clamscan_scanner' from the 'my @scanner_array=' line in
qmail-scanner-queue.pl, mail works as expected (spamassassin works, and
no clamav).
If I try clamscan through qmail-scanner-queue.pl, it hangs up with 2
clamscan processes running and never exiting:
qmailq 16260 1 0 03:40 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/bin/clamscan
-r --tempdir=/var/spool/qmailscan/ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com103
qmailq 16261 16260 0 03:40 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/bin/clamscan
-r --tempdir=/var/spool/qmailscan/ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com103
Here is the /var/spool/qmailscan/qmail-queue.log expert:
<snip>

/var/spool/qmailscan/ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com103666887042416204 2>&1
<snip>
It will stay there with a
/var/spool/qmailscan/ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com103666887042416204 directory
in /var/spool/qmailscan until I kill the clamscan process, then the mail
gets delivered..
If I run the scan at the console of the system I get this:
[root@ep1smtp1 qmailscan]# /usr/local/bin/clamscan -r
--tempdir=/var/spool/qmailscan/ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com103666923242416255

--tar --tgz

/var/spool/qmailscan/ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com103666923242416255/103666923
2.16257-1.ep1smtp1.easyplanet.com: OK
I have run a diff on the two systems qmail-scanner-queue.pl files and
other than the system name stuff, they are IDENTICAL.
It seems it is waiting for a correct exit code, but is not receiving it?
