I realize this is not the qmail list but since a large percentage of Q-S users
have spam reduction as a goal...just a few comments about using rblsmptd.
- you can use a 'run' script line like:
-r'relays.osirusoft.com:%IP% is open relay [relays.osirusoft.com]'
to log such traffic and to return -some- info back to the sending side (vs. a
dead-end)
NOTE: you need the "A record" patch for rblsmtpd (see the qmail home page)
to do this
- you can use multiple RBL's, some of the others I'm aware of:
# -r rbl.rope.net
# note- rope.net fails worldnet addresses
#-r relays.ordb.org
#-r rbl.rope.net
#-r orbs.dorkslayers.com
#-r spews.relays.osirusoft.com
#-r xbl.selwerd.cx
#-r bl.spamcop.net
#-r relays.visi.com
#-r rbl.apluslock.com
#-r dev.null.dk
#-r spammers.v6net.org
#-r blackholes.five-ten-sg.com
#-r blackholes.wirehub.net
#-r dynablock.wirehub.net
#-r black.blars.org
#-r ipwhois.rfc-ignorant.org
NOTE: adding multiple RBL's may slow down your mail processing also may
require an increase of your softlimit
- you might want to use your own web-accessible script (incorporating rbcheck)
so that emailers who should not be blocked have -some- way to communicate with
you.
rbcheck:
http://relays.osirusoft.com/cgi-bin/rbcheck.cgi
http://www.osirusoft.com/rbcheck/
with a run script line like:
-r'relays.osirusoft.com: SPAM - see http://your.server.xyz/script.cgi?%IP%'
You can modify rbcheck to use the IP to do the lookup -and- provide some form
through which email senders can submit information/requests to you.
for more RBLSMTPD info- see the qmail list :)
