Uh, actually I was using it with force_unzip=1, but I just tried with 
force_unzip=0, and it doesn't help: Still, the scanner doesn't get killed 
when the timeout occurs (or should occur).

So there must be something else, and anyway, even what you describe looks like 
a really buggy behaviour...
