In Germany you can get much problems if you watch users emails! The law is much different here, in this case. Users mailboxes are also for private use, because you associate the name of the user to their email address. You could make some clauses in the employment contract, but generally you are not allowed to watch emails of users in your company. For example: The commercial product WebSense filters URLs and can create reports from logfiles, like how much hits per IP and category (i.e. porn). If you can associate the IP address to an employee you are not allowed to create these reports, you have to anonymize them. Of course most people/companies do it and get no problems, but if the company resigns an employee from his job because of this fact, and this gets to the labour court then the employer will get problems.
