I am attempting to implement a Qmail Front End Spam Filter utilizing
qmail-scanner and spamassassin. I have come to a place where I am
completely stumped and I am looking for some help. Basically I have
installed Qmail, Qmail-Scanner, Spamassassin and the Qmail Queue Patch. I
have installed Qmail utilizing the Life With Qmail method. In my initial
testing I had several local accounts on the system. I simply did forwards
from my normal mail servers to these initial local accounts. Spam was being
filtered perfectly. When mail came inbound, it passed through
Qmail-scanner, then Spamassassin and if it was spam it was tagged in the
header with an X-Spam Status message. I then used procmail as my local
delivery agent and dumped the spam there. My next step was to begin to
determine how to use this setup to be a front end scanner for several other
domains. I decided that I could use smtproutes to accomplish this. I put
the domains into rcpthosts and in smtproutes I used
domain.com:ip_of_internal_server all after pointing MX records to this
pre-filter. Qmail did indeed grab the mail, then pass it through the
filters and tag it. However tagged spam mail still flows on to the internal
server untouched. My question is, since this mail never does attempt to be
delivered locally, it never gets killed via procmail. What options do I
have here? Or am I missing something extremely basic? I have posted to
several Qmail newsgroups and Qmail mailing lists with no luck. I figure
this is the best place to turn since people who actually utilize
Qmail-Scanner subscribe to this list. In closing I would say that I turned
to Qmail-qfilter and Sa-analyze to scan my domains for now. It does the
job, but I would much rather use Qmail-scanner for this task. Thanks in
