Like so many others, with the recent flood of SoBig spam coming through our server, I decided to turn on qmail-scanner.
Our box handles about 300,000 incoming messages per day to around 10k users. As soon as I enabled the scanner it basically brought our server to it's knees, using every last bit of available CPU. The box is a poweredge 1Ghz with 512mb ram. Lowering the number of concurrent SMTP connections isn't a viable option, it causes too much mail to be delayed. Is there anything else I can go? Would moving SMTP to a seperate box help any? ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Qmail-scanner-general mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/qmail-scanner-general
