according to the manpage for clamscan, as well as output from 'clamscan --help':

     --max-space=#n
Extract first #n kilobytes from each archive. You may
give the number in megabytes in format xM or xm, where
          x is a number.

the default that is created by the sub-clamscan.pl script during configuration of qmail-scanner sets the value as

--max-space=1000000

which, if we go by the clamscan interpretation, is 1000000 kilobytes, or 1gigabyte.

is this an appropriate default? or is the clamscan man page and '--help' wrong?

it seems to me that 1000 would be a more appropriate value - maybe even 100.

i've set my simply to --max-space=1M, since that at least eliminates the current doubt i have...
