What devours the memory? As you are Linux, try:
ps auxww|grep -v ^USER|awk '{print $5" "$0}'|sort -n
This will show the largest memory user at the bottom. I use it so much I
aliased it to "psmax" :-)
If it is clamd - try to find a message that triggers the fault, then report
it to their mailing-list.
