Where can we get this...

should we consider adding spambox functionality into qmail-scanner,
adding the best of all patches...?
configureable at install?

are most certainly spam. Spam messages under 15 are possible spam.

I don't know how to do it, but it makes sense. Anyone got any ideas?

i use Salvatore Toribio's patch to do this. works wonderfully. on my personal domain server, i set the quarantine value to 6, and the delete value to 12. my actual spamassassin-tagged spam that reaches my mailbox has dropped from approximately 300 per day (yes, 300) down to about 5. i have it set up to send a 'bounce' message to every sender who is quarantined or deleted (yes, it makes for quite a backlog of never-to-be-delivered warning messages, but if something get hit with a false positive, i want the sender to know about it).

on my production servers with customers on them, i've had it set to quarantine anything over 15, no deleting, same bounce message back to every quarantined sender. not a single complaint from customers. today i lowered it to 14. in a week or two probably 13.

highly recommended. i used to be against any kind of automated quarantining or deleting of spam. today, january 2004, the volume of crap has simply become an avalanche. i cannot sift through 300 tagged messages per day looking for the extremely rare false positive - it's no better than just getting them mixed into my regular mail.

it's a war these days, frankly.
