I am getting this error while trying to install qscanq on Solaris 8
root)@qmail:/package/mail/qscanq-0.38# ./package/install Linking ./src/* into ./compile...
Compiling everything in ./compile...
./load auto-pidt buffer.a str.a error.a fmt_ulong.o ld: fatal: file auto-pidt.o: wrong ELF machine type: EM_386
ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to auto-pidt

I'll venture a guess - you're trying to install a precompiled Solaris -package-, that package was created on a _386_ system, and you have a _RISC_ box?
Why not compile your own?
