I thought that I was supposed to recieve 3 e-mails. This is given an
installed clamav but no spamassassin, and also given that I had left
the --notify installation option at "psender, nmlvadm". I expected to
recieve: 1) a non-blocked "plain" message sent by test_installation.sh
2) a spam sent by test_installation.sh and 3) an alert sent to the
sender (also me) by qmail-scanner-queue.pl warning of the
policy-blocked "eicar.com" message. However, I did not get message
(3). My first thought was that perhaps the "eicar.com" message was
considered a virus-block rather than a policy-block. So I modified
test_installation.sh to add another policy-block (a double-barrel
filename) and to hard-code $RECIP and QS_SENDER (see below).

The result was still only 2 e-mails, the plain and spam messages sent
by test_installation.sh. So I reinstalled Qmail-Scanner with the
--notify option set to "sender, recips, admin". (This was to be a test
and not the way I wanted qmail-scanner to finally be installed.) I
then ran test_installation.sh I expected to recieve 11 e-mails: 2
sent by test_installation.sh that were not blocked (one plain, one
spam), 3 alerts sent to the sender (me) by qmail-scanner-queue.pl
warning of three blocked e-mails (one "eicar.com" message, one eicar
test string, and one double-barrel filename), 3 simialr alerts sent to
the recipient (me), and 3 similar alerts sent to the virus
administrator (me). However, I received 5 messages: the 2 sent by
test_installation.sh that were not blocked, and 3 sent to the
recipient. I did not recieve the 3 that I expected to be sent to the
sender or the 3 to the virus administrator.

Yikes, I wrote that wrong in my original message. It was not $RECIP
that was set to mydomain.xyz rather than [EMAIL PROTECTED] It
was $QS_SENDER. This was why I tried deleting defaultdomain--I wanted
to check if test_installation.sh defaultdomain was really the source of
$QS_SENDER. I have restored my defaultdomain file but still need to
hard-code $QS_SENDER to have it sent from me. Otherwise, the messages
sent by test_installation.sh were just from mydomain.xyz. Qmail's
defaulthost was not picked up, and there was no username or at sign.
Both $V_FROM and $RECIP were correct.

Sorry for the confusion. Can I blame it on sending my original message
in the middle of the night? :-) I hope I did a bit better this time.
