I just want to confirm: when you upgrade to a RH 5.2 system, sendmail
does get installed on your system, even if you have qmail rpm
installed with saying "provides MTA, smtpdaemon" and "conflicts
sendmail".
This means that
1) your sendmail links in /usr/sbin and /usr/lib get mangled.
2) sendmail is set up to run after boot, so you have to stop the
sendmail daemon.
To be functional again:
Once you stopped your sendmail, remove the darn package:
rpm -e sendmail
Set the links
ln -s ../../var/qmail/bin/sendmail /usr/lib/sendmail
ln -s ../../var/qmail/bin/sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
I bet anybody that linuxconf has not been fixed either (it would want
to set the perms properly on /usr/*/sendmail in its to do list).
Mate
Ps: this is ridiculous.
