In that case, I believe you need a two-part solution. For direct
invocation of qmail-inject (by itself or via the "sendmail" wrapper),
you need to set QMAILSUSER and QMAILSHOST.

For other clients, which use SMTP directly, you can adapt the solution
of FAQ 5.5.
