I have this in my /etc/rc.d/rc.inet2 for my incoming mail:
/usr/local/bin/tcpserver -x /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb -v -u 31 -g 30 0 smtp
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd 2>&1 | /var/qmail/bin/splogger smtpd 3 &
(That's one line, not two..)
not running qmail-pop3d (yet).
