Hiyas, Iam thinking about DJB's request to Qmail's original distribution. I think it can check *source files* instead of the produced binary as in RCS ident. I mean Makefile would md5sums the .c and .h files (or so) and it would be a global static const char in "global.ver". Then you can include this file to any runnable. There would be an qmail ident which can extract this version string from these executables and it would match'em against an md5sum list distributed by DJB.
