Ehm. Did you *really* call RedHat an OS vendor? I observed that they
just make CDs containing a bunch of FSF utilities plus some programs
of their own grouped together and entitled "RedHat".
Everyone is able to gather software, add an installer and package
manager and then name himself "a vendor".
So myself I would not try to compare complexity of download and
making CDs to writing software contained on the very CDs.
