So you want to micro-manage email to a virtual domain? No problem.
Let's say that you have the following line in virtualdomains:
.Ps
domain.com:alias-domain
.Pe
That will cause mail to \fBuser\fP\fI\@domain.com\fP to be
controlled by \fI~alias/.qmail-domain-\fP\fBuser\fP. So, to direct
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED], you'd create
\fI~alias/.qmail-domain-user\fP so that it has \f(CW&[EMAIL PROTECTED]\fP.
And to direct [EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED], you'd create
\fI~alias/.qmail-domain-info\fP so that it has \f(CW&[EMAIL PROTECTED]\fP.
Now, while you're at it, you ought to also create
\fI~alias/.qmail-domain-postmaster\fP so that it has the email address
of whoever controls the mail.
.LP
Speaking of controlling the mail, the examples I've used so far have
always had \fIalias\fP controlling the delivery. There's no need for
that--you can delegate that responsibility to users. So if you're an
ISP and you have a customer who has a vanity domain, you should give
them control over the deliveries. Do this even if they have no clue
about how to use Unix. It helps virtualdomains scale better than
stuffing everything into \fI~alias\fP.
.LP
So, if you have a user named Eric Gullerud, whose vanity domain is
Gullerud.com, give him a virtualdomain entry like this:
.Ps
gullerud.com:gullerud
.Pe
In his home directory, he would (well, okay, \fBdid\fP) create a
\fI.qmail-eric\fP which delivers his mail into a Maildir, a
\fI.qmail-cherie\fP which delivers her mail into a Maildir, and a
\fI.qmail-lizzie\fP which forwards her mail to
&[EMAIL PROTECTED]&fP because Lizzie is too young to read, much
less read email.

Yes, this is going in the book. :)
