Thanks for your reply. The re-install corrected the permission problems but
not the group ones. Strange. In hier.c is this:

  d(auto_qmail,"control",auto_uido,auto_gidq,0755);

which would probably tell me something if I knew C or did not suck at UNIX
but alas I don't and I do. 8) Is there some way to fix this from the
command line or should I install a third time? TIA.
