Make sure this: 

no-quell-folder-internal-msg

isn't in the global pine.conf.  The location of pine.conf varies on the
OS.  FreeBSD puts it in /usr/local/etc.  Strangely, it's assumed by pine
that this 'feature' would be normally off, so to turn it on you have to
tell it not to not do it.
