some questions to qmail and sql

Hi to all,

I want to create an sql-database in which I want to hold information about my 
mail-users, routing information and forwarding infos.

Does anybody know a sql-databaseengine which works fine with qmail? 

Is a flatfile more efficient than a sql-database?
